Cradle to Cross – Good Friday 2019
Good Friday was a very special day in our Church Fellowship, starting in the morning with a ‘Prayer Labyrinth’ devised and put together in the School Hall by our minister ‘Chris Ormerod’. We were taken on an individual journey of faith via a number of stations at which we were led in our thoughts and prayers. Everyone present drew strength from this time of personal reflection.
A very big ‘thank you’ to Chris for all of the work she put into this extremely meaningful experience. The morning finished with a time of fellowship and refreshment, thoroughly enjoyed by all.
In the evening our annual Choir Cantata ‘From Cradle to Cross’ took place in a very full church. The service was led by our very good friend and stalwart of the I.M. Connexion – Graham O’nions. The congregational hymn singing was impressive, whilst the augmented choir sang with feeling and passion, recounting the story of Christ from birth (Cradle) to death (Cross) but on to Resurrection! Hallelujah!!
Again, many thanks to all of the choir, especially those members from other churches who gave up so much of their time over the last few weeks. The response from the congregation was overwhelming, it truly was an evening of great blessing.
A freewill offering in aid of ‘North West Air Ambulance’ was taken in memory of two recently deceased choir members – Gordon Ormerod & Maurice Monk, this raised the impressive sum of £560.
